All of ETA victims

Apr 8, 2016

Six years after renouncing violence in its bloody pursuit of a Basque homeland, the militant separatist group Eta announced it will lay down all arms.

There isnt an undestanding about the number of deadly victims. I decided to use the data from the 'Fundación de víctimas del terrorismo' (Foundation of victims of terrorism) to know the target of each victim (student, police, military, etc.) and El Mapa del olvido another unofficial source to extract the location (approximate) of the attack.

Unfortunately neither source had id's to match with so I had to use OpenRefine and its cluster and edit tools which were truly useful. I achieved to reduce from more than 250 errors to just 75 where I had to check it manually.

Finally I built the app with d3js. I used d3-composite-projections to bring the Canary Islands near the Península and twitter's typeahead.js for the searcher.

Go to feature.
